Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Prerequisites: Participants must be an RN and possess a current unrestricted nursing license to receive verification.

ENA’s Trauma Nursing Core Course includes:

  • TNCC is a two-day intensive course taught by expert instructors. There is a faculty ratio of approximately one faculty per four learners.
  • Hands-on training using both an individual and a team approach. Three psychomotor skill stations — trauma nursing process, airway and ventilation, and trauma interventions — offer you the opportunity to practice the systematic approach of the initial assessment in real life situations.
  • Online learning: Five online modules with links to additional information let you learn at your own pace, apply what you learn and receive immediate feedback, and refer back to information at any time. The modules are a complete case study process — taking you through an entire sequence of care.
  • Evidence-based content developed by trauma emergency experts. The 24-chapter, comprehensive TNCC Trauma Nursing Core Course Provider Manual, 8th Edition, is a compilation of current trauma nursing standards and a valuable resource for future reference.

Course Format: A variety of learning methodologies are included to cater to every learning style, including Textbook, Online modules, Live simulation, Instructor-led classroom discussions and skill stations

Online learning: Online modules with links to additional information are provided prior to the course date to let you learn at your own pace, apply what you learn and receive immediate feedback, and refer back to information at any time. The modules are a complete case study process — taking you through an entire sequence of care.

Live simulation: TNCC includes hands-on training using both an individual and team approach. Trauma nursing process psychomotor skills stations offer you the opportunity to practice trauma patient assessments and interventions in a controlled environment.

Instructor-led classroom discussions and skill stations: TNCC is a two-day intensive course taught by expert instructors.

Enrollment Cut-off: Enrollment closes when the class is full.  Those that enroll within a few days fo the class may have their book held until the day of the class.

Textbook: The latest 8th edition of the TNCC Trauma Nursing Core Course Provider Manual includes evidence-based content developed by trauma emergency experts. The 24-chapter, comprehensive manual is a compilation of current trauma nursing standards and a valuable resource for future reference.  This book is included in your course fee.

Certification: An ENA TNCC four-year provider verification card will be issued to those registered nurses who achieve 80% or higher on the multiple-choice exam and 70% or higher on the skill station evaluation.  Those that successfully complete the course will also be awarded 17.65 contact hours of CNE.
