Respirator Fit Testing & Certification
NHCPR offers convenient, professional N95 Qualitative Respirator Fit Testing for individuals and groups who require OSHA-compliant clearance to wear a tight-fitting respirator on the job. Our trained staff performs on-site testing to ensure your employees are safe, properly fitted, and meet OSHA’s Respiratory Protection Standard.
What is a Respirator Fit Test?
A fit test determines if a specific make, model, and size of respirator provides an adequate seal to the wearer’s face. It is required for any employee who must wear a tight-fitting respirator in the workplace. The test must be conducted using the exact respirator they’ll use during work.
There are two types of OSHA-approved respirator fit tests:
- Qualitative Fit Test (QLFT): A pass/fail test relying on the wearer’s reaction to taste, smell, or irritation from a test substance. This is the method used by NHCPR.
- Quantitative Fit Test (QNFT): Measures leakage with a specialized machine. (Not offered by NHCPR.)
Step-by-Step Process
